Pass the Pringles

These hands were created using silicone, Probondo, and latex finger extensions to achieve both realism and durability.
For the elongated, alien-like fingers, I sculpted custom extensions and cast them in latex so they would remain lightweight and flexible. These were carefully fitted and blended into the hand to maintain natural movement while exaggerating the silhouette. I sculpted the suckers and also built up veins for the hands and then cast these out of probondo.
I created the Godzilla texture by sculpting the reptilian skin. This allowed me to carve in wrinkles, scales, and raised details directly into the surface. I made moulds and filled these with Probondo, a type of glue that sets and then can be applied like a transfer. Probondo was my material of choice because it is so durable which makes it perfect for hands which move a lot. I made lots of different pieces giving the hand the ability to flex and move.
The final stage was painting. I used layered washes and dry brushing techniques to build depth — mottled greens and earthy tones for the reptilian hand, and saturated purples with dimensional shading for the tentacled design. Subtle color variation enhanced the sculpted details and gave each hand a living, organic feel.
The result is a pair of creature hands that combine structural extension, sculptural texture, and realistic surface treatment — balancing flexibility with dramatic transformation.
